Welcome

Barefoot Nellie & Co. is a smooth driving Bluegrass band based out of Chattanooga, TN.  The group was founded in 2007 by Eric and August Bruce.  In 2010 BFN&CO released their debut CD South River.  In 2012, PBS TV Series "Song of the Mountains", Season 7, Episode 5 featured BFN&CO. 2014 has proven to be an extra fun year with Bluegrass band contest wins at Uncle Dave Macon Days in Murfreesboro, TN and Bluegrass on the Plains in Auburn, AL where the band won recording time at Mountain Fever Studios in Willis, VA.

BFN&Co. compiles impressive driving, darker  arrangements, blending standard traditional bluegrass with a more innovative approach.  The band's heart lies in writing, arranging and playing originals that will be featured on their new project due out mid 2016.

BFN&Co. WON First Place in the Bluegrass On the Plains Bluegrass Idol Competition...

It's Teresa here with a HUGE announcement!

August just texted me that BFN&Co. WON First Place in the Bluegrass Idol Competition at Bluegrass On the Plains just a few minutes ago! What does this mean?
  • The band has won 2 days free recording time with Mountain Fever Studios in Willis, Virginia, an approx. $2,000 value! They will have a 3-4 song Demo CD at no studio expense to the band!
  • Additionally, the band will get the opening set of the 2014 "Bluegrass on the Plains" Saturday Night Show During the Dinner Break (4:30-5:25) paid $1,500!
  • Each member of the band also receives a free 5-day pass to the 2014 Bluegrass on the Plains Festival for them and one other person.

I don't know about you folks, but I am one super proud Nelliehead right now and so excited for what else is in the future for this AWESOME band!

Congrats August, Eric, Kyle, Mike and Michael!

Meet the newest members of Barefoot Nellie & Co.!

BFN&Co. is so excited to officially announce their three newest members. Behind the scenes along with Eric and August, they have been busy writing songs, picking together and working out harmony in preparation for the official debut and for upcoming events.

Join us in welcoming 27 year old Kyle Tolbert to BFN&Co from Oneonta, AL.  Kyle is BFN&Co.'s newest guitar player and he is a very innovative and talented flat picking musician.  His playing style is captivating and his originality will be very apparent when you have the privilege of hearing him yourself.  We are very blessed to welcome him aboard.

Also join us in welcoming 20 year old Michael Williams from Joppa, AL.  Michael is our newest mandolin player. He has played bluegrass music for four years and although mandolin was not the first bluegrass instrument he learned, he has a great ability to adapt to bluegrass instruments.  BFN&Co. welcomes his clean, crisp and clear playing style as a great addition to the smooth driving sound which the band is already known for.  In addition to his playing ability, Michael also brings great vocals and harmonies to BFN&Co. Plus he is busy writing songs for upcoming projects.  BFN&Co. looks forward to sharing his talents with the fans.

Last but not least, please join us in welcoming 26 year old Mike Broadway from Athens, AL.  Mike joins BFN&Co. as the newest banjo player.  Since Mike has attributed hearing an album from the Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe at the age of 11 as the reason he started playing, it stands to reason that he still blends tradition into his desire to achieve a more contemporary sound, not straying too far from his roots.  This is in keeping with the desires of what BFN&Co. has always strived to achieve as well, making Mike a perfect fit for BFN&Co.  In addition to playing the banjo, Mike also sings harmonies and writes songs that BFN&Co. looks forward to sharing soon!

You can see pictures and bios of all band members on the bios pages.
